Clinical Correlations

Reflection

At the end of the second semester of Clinical Correlations, I found myself surprised by the amount I learned and gained from the class. In the beginning of the course, the challenging aspect was doing the research, and deciding what information to include in my presentations. As I become more familiar with the different sources, doing the research became less of a chore. I utilized many sources, including Pubmed and Cochrane, but I found Uptodate to be one of my favorites. I expect that to continue as I enter clinical year, when finding the most recent data is imperative to patient care. One thing I found surprising, was how difficult I found it to present in front of my peers. I always got nervous when it came to public speaking, but I didn’t expect it to be a problem around the people that I spend every day with. When it became apparent that the nervousness wasn’t going to magically disappear, I found myself working on being able to get my research across in an effective manner, despite my nerves. I believe that over that past two semesters, that is something I was able to improve upon, although I will need to continue working on it as I make my way through clinical year.

When the daily studies are so focused on bombarding us with as much information as possible, a class like clinical correlations has innumerable benefits. It allowed us students to take the time to digest all of the information and learn to apply it in the way we plan on doing for the span of our careers.
