Dear –
As a graduating physician assistant student from York College, I am interested in applying for the open physician assistant position in your pediatrics department. I anticipate graduating in December 2019.
Prior to PA school, I worked at a group home for medically fragile children. I have always had a passion for working with children, but it was my time there that encouraged me to seek out a position in pediatric medicine. My role at the group home was very broad, encompassing all areas of care. In addition to physically taking care of the children, I provided for their medical and emotional care.
During my time at the group home I spent many hours at the PICU when the children got sick. I believe that my time spent at the hospital has allowed me to develop an added layer of sensitivity to the families and guardians of sick children.
If given the opportunity to join your pediatrics department, I plan to continue honing my expertise in pediatric medicine using the skills I’ve developed both in my work experience as well as my clinical knowledge.
